Year-end fundraiser Underway!
When one of our seniors said, “the Anacortes Senior Activity Center has been my Lifeline,” we felt humbled, appreciative, and extremely motivated to continue to financially support ASAC programs. We at the ASAC Foundation are grateful to you for your generous donations and support, which directly impacts the lives of over 100 seniors each month. Our community is lucky to have one of the only accredited senior centers in the State, and we hope you’ll continue to help us extend this lifeline by making a tax-deductible gift today.
Meet Suzette Richards

Suzette has been an ASAC volunteer for over 25 years and watched the center grow from a handful of people gathering in the basement of City Hall to the thriving community it is today. She began by reading to members of the Low Vision Support Group, which now, under Suzette’s initiative and hard work, offers many different resources and events. Currently, she is also involved in many fundraising efforts, and her creative mind is always thinking of new ideas and projects to benefit our ASAC members. Over the years, Suzette has educated herself on the science behind aging and learned that “proper diet, exercise, socialization, and purpose” are all essential. While she values each aspect, “purpose” has been her primary motivation to her engagement at the center. She cherishes being in a “purposeful environment,” not necessarily for her own benefit, but to have the opportunity to be meaningful to others. As a result, you will find her every Wednesday afternoon behind the reception desk at the center with a friendly smile, a compliment, or even a joke for our visitors.
We are all incredibly grateful to Suzette for making it her purpose to brighten the day of everyone who walks through the door at ASAC.
For 2023, the ASAC Foundation is raising money to support the Aging Mastery Program (AMP). In addition, we are investing in “Owl” hybrid technology to deliver an immersive experience to those who join us virtually. This will allow us to reach even more seniors who are not able to come to the center in person.
Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 to support AMP and Owl, and your donation matters! Please consider supporting our seniors by making a gift today! Please click here to donate.
With Gratitude,
